Free Resources

Getting on top of your money is a whole lot easier when you know where to look. We have gathered free, trusted Australian services that can help you deal with debt, check your credit file, build a budget, or find support when things get hard.

Debt & Financial Counselling

A financial counsellor can talk through your options with you, for free and in confidence. There is no shame in asking. That is exactly what these services are here for.

National Debt Helpline

Free, confidential financial counselling over the phone. They can help you handle debt collectors, unpaid bills, and the stress that comes with all of it.

MoneySmart

Run by ASIC, the government's own money guidance service. Plain-English guides, free calculators, and tips for spotting scams before they catch you.

Credit Reporting Bodies

You are entitled to a free copy of your own credit report from each of these credit reporting bodies. It is worth seeing exactly what is listed before you make any big decisions.

Equifax

The main credit reporting body in Australia.
Commonly known as Veda.

Experian

Illion and Experian have recently merged into the one reporting body.

Budgeting & Financial Literacy

Sometimes you just need the right tool and a clear view of where your money is going. These free resources help you build a plan you can actually live with.

Services Australia

Payment options, bill-smoothing tools like Centrepay, and help working out what government support you may be eligible for.

MoneySmart

A free, ready-to-go budget template so you can see exactly where your money goes each month, no spreadsheet skills required.

Financial Legal Centre

Free legal information, a handy debt problem solver tool, and a financial counselling helpline if you need to talk it through.

Domestic & Financial Abuse

Financial abuse is a form of domestic violence, and it can be hard to see when you are living in it. If someone controls your money, your accounts, or your ability to work, that is not okay. You are not alone, and none of this is your fault.

Kelly Wilkinson Foundation

A Gold Coast foundation supporting families and the children left behind after domestic violence.
